Cao Luread bio
Cao Lu comes from Jiangsu, China. She studied Journalism at Renmin University of China, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Literature. She achieved an excellent academic record and was selected to exchange to National Chengchi University at Taiwan for one semester. She served as the Vice Editor-in-Chief of the Youth RUC - the largest and most professional press in RUC. She also devoted herself to social activities. She has previously interned at Xinhua News Agency, Southern Weekly, Bytedance (Toutiao) and GGV Capital. At the Yenching Academy, Cao Lu concentrates in Economics and Management, hoping to deepen her understanding of media economics.
Cao Mengyaoread bio
Cao Mengyao grew up in Shandong province, China. She majored in Business English and minored in Accounting at the University of International Business and Economics. During her undergraduate period, she showed a great passion for volunteer service. She launched a projec to provide solutions for “the last mile distribution”. She has also volunteered in Jiangxi Province teaching young children English and Chinese classics, further analyzing the practical significance of Confucianism. As a sophomore, she exchanged at the University of Hong Kong on a full-scholarship, where she discovered her interest in the effect of economics on social issues, especially in the field of education. In campus life, she served as Monitor of the School of International Studies and Chairman of Siemens Student Circle. As a Yenching Scholar, Mengyao concentrates in Economics and Management, focusing on the research about entrepreneurship and its impact on the society.
Cao Mingyaoread bio
Cao Mingyao studies accounting and statistics in Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou. As a business school student, she devoted to enrich her experience in various business fields via internships in KPMG, GF Securities, Aon Hewitt, and McKinsey & Co. During those internships, she served many different foreign clients and communicated with people with different cultural backgrounds, which aroused her interest in cross-cultural communication in multinational corporations. To explore this filed, she participated actively in international activities. During her undergraduate career, she exchanged at Bocconi University in Italy for half a year supported by government scholarship and interned in Los Angeles at BDO USA, LLP. As a Yenching Scholar, she explores cross-cultural communication with regard to the field of organizational behavior.
Chen Changyuread bio
Chen Changyu was born in Hubei, China and lives in Nanjing currently. He received his Bachelor's degree from the Department of Liberal Arts at Nanjing University, majoring in Chinese language and literature. During his undergraduate career, he spent his junior year studying at the University of Pennsylvania as a visiting student, which inspired him to learn more about cultural communication and international relations. As the captain of school debate team, he is passionate about critical thinking and communication. He aims to continue and deepen his academic interest in Chinese modern literature and culture. At Yenching Academy, he focuses on International Relations and Cultural Diplomacy.
Ye Rin Churead bio
Ye Rin is a 2018 graduate of Wellesley College with a degree in Economics. Living off of one suitcase for 8 months in 8 countries and 28 cities for work, research, and academics, Ye Rin sourced gastrointestinal medical devices to provide corporate-financed diagnostics services to potential patients pan India; she investigated supply chains of food in San Francisco, Tanzania, India, and Italy, dived into a share-housing start up in Seoul to come up with a business plan to solve urban space usage problems, and met with international state leaders involved in North Korean affairs. Engaged in enterprising environments, Ye Rin is passionate about building the nation of Korea, where she is from. Particularly, she plans to explore infrastructure, education, agriculture, and built-environment solutions leveraging block-chain trust technology between inter-Korea and Southern China. Ye Rin wants to help develop the next generation’s minds and encourage entrepreneurial ventures in the region via these initiatives. At Yenching Academy, Ye Rin explores how the Chinese thought preserved in Chinese classical philosophy runs in continuum to China today, politically, socially, and economically. She is curious about the Chinese ‘way of thinking’ and wants to understand how the Chinese see the world.
Fu Yiread bio
Born and raised in Quzhou, Zhejiang, Fu Yi graduated from the University of International Business and Economics with a bachelor degree in Spanish Language and Literature and another degree in Finance. During her undergraduate studies she was awarded the National Scholarship and CSC Scholarship. She spent six months studying in Spain as an exchange student and went to Mexico for one month, where she conducted research on Mexican Architecture and Aztec Civilization. Outside of the classroom, Yi enjoys learning languages; she speaks fluent Chinese, English, Spanish, and currently studies French and German. She also enjoys traveling, dancing, photography and intercultural communication. She has completed internships at UNIDO Green Industry Platform, Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and Ministry of Commerce, through which experiences she found her interest in economic development and international organizations. Throughout her studies she has focused on China-Latin America economic relations and wrote her graduation thesis about China-Latin America Economic and Trade Cooperation under the Influence of the Belt and Road Initiative. At the Yenching Academy, she concentrates in Economics and Management, and hopes to develop deeper insights into the current state of China’s economy.
Gao Zihaoread bio
Gao Zihao is from Sichuan, China. He completed his undergraduate degree at Maxdo College of Beijing Normal University. Although he majored in Economics, Gao is enthusiastic about educational policy and economics. He has spent 1 year working as a Research Assistant at the China Institute of Education Policy. During his junior year, he participated in several research projects such as “Study on Education Policy of Trump’s Administration” and “Reform of Educational Institutional System of Beijing”. Gao has also been actively engaged in cross-cultural communication, and has studied in several exchange programs in France, the US and the UK. He was the co-founder of Club of Minority Language and Campus Ambassador of Operation Smile in Beijing Normal University. Because of his interest both in education and language, Gao is currently working with a French EdTech project named LoginChinese. Based on cutting-edge technologies like AI and knowledge map, LoginChinese is dedicated in bringing the best Chinese language learning experience to people around the world. As a Yenching Scholar, Gao hopes to study the impact of technological innovation on education and economics in order to form a comprehensive understanding of the development of EdTech industry in the future.
Guo Jingyuanread bio
Guo Jingyuan received a bachelor’s degree of Public Administration from Minzu University of China in 2018. She focused on the public administration in Autonomous Region and social enterprises in China, and actively participated in the research group of the index of the Chinese Social Enterprise Authentication. She published her findings about these two subjects in CSSCI journals. Besides her academic work, Jingyuan has also interned in Bain&Co. and Sequoia Capital China. Jingyuan has a pleasant mature attitude towards literally everything. She enjoys learning, working and exchanging knowledge with people from diverse backgrounds. She is especially interested in social innovation in China, and explores this more in the Economics and Management track at Yenching.
Guo Yuanyuanread bio
Born in Wuhan, Guo Yuanyuan majored in French language and literature in Wuhan University. Apart from numerous scholarships for her academic achievements, she was named the Merit Student of her university and the Excellent Undergraduate of China Scholarship Council. As the head of English Street Club, Guo has been engaged in building international platforms for WHUers to bridge the gap of understanding between China and the world. To promote French and Francophone culture in Wuhan, she interned at Alliance Française as well as Business France and organized a range of large events and free cultural activities. During her stay in Algeria and Morocco, she served as an interpreter for China’s Foreign Aid to Africa. It was in France that Guo specialized in the interdisciplinary program “Humanistic and Scientific Culture” where the historical and epistemological approach deepened her understanding and her practice of interdisciplinarity. This is why, at the Yenching Academy, she concentrates on Politics and International Relations, to promote a better understanding of China’s development in comparison with the Francophone countries.
Shriyam Guptaread bio
Shriyam Gupta grew up in Dehri-on-Sone, a small town in Bihar and spent most of his life at a boarding school in Dehradun. He graduated with a degree in B.A (Hons.) History from the University of Delhi. In college, he worked with refugees in Delhi, which built his interest in policy, human rights, and governance. He has assisted Members of Parliament on issues of environment, communalism, and rural development; and spent close to a year mapping compensation processes for human-wildlife conflict across the country. These experiences built his interest in public administration and institutional reform in India. To pursue this, he spent the last two years consulting with government departments and the judiciary, helping them addresses their operational backlogs. He comes to China and Yenching Academy with an interest in learning about its bureaucratic system and government.
