Nan Sandar Kyawread bio
Miss Nan Sandar Kyaw who is known to her friends as Gwen San is from Myanmar. She is currently living in Mandalay and working on her own garment production business called “Timeless Garment”. She also teaches business management at Apex Business School part time. She studied Chinese for her undergraduate degree at Mandalay University of Foreign Languages and obtained a Graduate Diploma in Business Management from the Association of Business Executives (ABE,UK) at the same time. In 2011, she won the Global UGRAD exchange scholarship in the US and spent a semester at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She actively participated in and won several national and international business plan competitions in 2012 and 2013. As a youth leader, she has inspired many local students and has been involved in many voluntary works such as mobile library, public speaking and summer essay competitions at monastic schools in Mandalay. She founded a public speaking club called “Mandalay Toastmaster Club” at Jefferson Centre in Mandalay. She is the co-founder of Dedicated Next Generation which provides leadership training, supported by the US Embassy’s Small Grant. At the Yenching Academy, she will focus on Economics and Management as her research area, as she would like to sharpen her Chinese language and understand the impact of Chinese culture and traditions on China’s economic development and international trade.
