Honey Watson

Honey Watson

Honey Watson graduated from University College London in 2015 with First Class Honours in Ancient History. Throughout her degree, she conducted extensive research into representations of female sexuality in ancient literature. She was also an active participant in UCL’s Feminist Society, and a member of London’s Young Green Party. At the Yenching Academy, her academic focus was on Contemporary Chinese Literature. Her goal for the near future is to pursue doctoral study in Literature, with a particular interest in Gothic Marxist Materialism.

Tom Watson

Tom Watson

Tom Watson studied Chinese and management at Clare College, University of Cambridge. Tom believes that commerce is the most powerful tool capable of improving the world, both as the source of economic prosperity and as a way of creating mutually beneficial, friendly relationships between countries. He hopes that studying at the Yenching Academy will enable him to make a significant contribution to global progress and the world of commerce.


Dennis Wiater

Dennis Wiater graduated from the University of Chicago where he received a degree in philosophy and political science. At the Yenching Academy, Dennis gained a better understanding of the Chinese legal system and its interaction with the international community.

Xiao Linlin

Xiao Linlin

Xiao Linlin studied International Politics at Xiamen University. She spent one semester as an exchange student at Taiwan University's Political Science Department. Her academic achievements won her many national and regional scholarships, and contributed to her being selected as one of The Ten Outstanding Undergraduate Students of Xiamen University out of thousands of undergraduates.

Yang Tian

Yang Tian studied sociology at Beijing Normal University. With an interest in business strategies and corporate talent recruitment, she plans to become a professional manager or business consultant in the future. She would also like to contribute to the process of establishing and reforming Chinese national companies. 


Yuan Yi

Yuan Yi

Yuan Yi graduated from Sun Yat-Sen University where she pursued her interest in the history of Chinese novels and Narratology. Yuan was a translator at the Guangzhou Live International Action Art Festival, and hosted a film review contest in Sun Yat-sen University. She also won the second award in the national Business Practice Contest. 


Zhang Junlan

Zhang Junlan

Zhang Junlan studied landscape architecture at Zhejiang University. Concurrently, she also learned German as a second foreign language, and developed a wide array of skills useful for laboratory and fieldwork. Junlan plans to dedicate herself to the preservation and promotion of Chinese culture, and to bridging the existing gap between theorists and practitioners. 


Zhang Zekun

Zhang Zekun

Zhang Zekun studied ancient Chinese history at Peking University, where she was also a member of the PKU Classical Linguistics Project. Zekun’s academic work focused on the cross-subject examination of Chinese social history and the lives of ordinary people in ancient China. In the future, she would like to travel abroad to continue her studies on East Asia at doctoral level.


Zhao Yuheng

Zhao Yuheng graduated from Peking University, where he studied economics and worked on topics such as land circulation and utilization, industrial organization, and financial histories. In the future, Yuheng would like to pursue a Ph.D. program in Economics and become a researcher.
