Naoya Matsumoto

Naoya Matsumoto studied architectural design, urban planning, and regional development at Kyoto University. He was involved in multinational post-earthquake reconstruction projects in Japan and China, notably following the Fukushima disaster in 2013 and the 2008 earthquake in Sichuan province. Naoya spent his time at the Yenching Academy researching urban and regional planning from a comparative perspective, focusing especially on the transformation of Beijing’s urban spaces.

Mio Sato studied media, culture, and international relations at Waseda University and Peking University. Mio’s academic work is fueled by her interest in how the media shape the character of different nations across East Asia. Mio organized many projects to promote positive Sino-Japanese relations, including a widely televised, large-scale music event in Beijing.
